3T MRI
The high field 3T (Tesla) Philips Achieva MRI scanner is the first of its kind in Western Australia. It has twice the magnetic field strength of most MRI scanners in WA and is capable of producing images of unparalleled resolution and clarity. This increase in magnet strength also results in much faster scan times, in some cases up to 50 % quicker than conventional 1.5T scanners, which means there is less chance of the images being blurred due to patient movement.
This increase in image quality and resolution brings particular benefits to the imaging and assessment of the brain, spine, musculoskeletal system and cardiovascular disorders.
The scanner may potentially reveal subtle abnormalities which would previously be undetected on conventional 1.5T MRI scanners.
