Professor David Wood of the Orthopedic Institute in Perth generously donates his time and skills to Port Moresby Hospital, Papua New Guinea. Perth Radiological Clinic donated a CT scanner to the hospital. The scanner has now been installed and below is an email sent from Professor Wood to Dr Michael Fallon of PRC about the scanner.
Dear Mike
I have just returned from Papua New Guinea and had the opportunity to visit the radiology department at Port Moresby General Hospital.
The CT scanner you donated is fully functional.
The images are of excellent quality and the radiologists are enthused by their ability to produce such good quality imaging.
They have received some training in Melbourne and are providing an excellent service. The radiology department charges about a third of the private CT scan which goes towards the service contract with GE and they are scanning about 10 patients per day. The neurosurgeon sought me out and thanked me sincerely for facilitating this service. I in turn would like to thank the Perth Radiological clinic for this invaluable donation.
