While most residents of Perth were relaxing over the Labour Day long weekend in early autumn, Perth Radiological Clinic was busy labouring over the installation of a new Toshiba 64 slice CT scanner at its Armadale – Kelmscott Memorial Hospital site. The weekend was chosen to minimize downtime to local patients and reduce any inconvenience that may have been caused.
The result of all the hard work is the latest CT scanner technology is now installed and functioning, providing all patients with the ultimate in CT diagnostic imaging. Patients will find examinations are completed far quicker than on older equipment and in more comfort. Patients will not be required to hold their breath for as long, a tremendous advantage for the elderly and those short of breath. The resulting diagnostic images are of a superior quality which leads to more accurate diagnosis.
CT Scanners of this quality are few are far between in Western Australia so this provides convenience for the local community, as well as the latest standard of equipment in diagnostic imaging.
“Diagnostic Imaging is an extremely capital intensive area of health care”, explained General Manager of Perth Radiological Clinic Lenka Psar-McCabe. “With the installation of our new Toshiba 64 slice CT scanner at Armadale – Kelmscott Memorial Hospital I believe we show our commitment to be truly multi-faceted. First and foremost, to the patients who visit our clinic within the hospital, we show a commitment to providing the very best technology has to offer. The 64 slice CT scanner is equivalent or superior to the CT scanners utilised in Perth’s major teaching hospitals, plus it has all the benefits to the local patients of not having to travel to Perth itself. We also show a commitment to Doctors within the hospital, and the local community referrers who now have access to this state of the art equipment with the full and reassuring knowledge that their patients will be diagnosed on the most technically advanced equipment available. On a broader plane we are also showing commitment to the local community as a whole, by demonstrating that we are prepared to invest, and invest heavily, in future healthcare for the Armadale and Kelmscott region. Finally, we also show our commitment to strengthen bonds for the present and the coming years, within our relationship with the local public health system and the private sector. In essence it is a terrific win for all concerned and we look forward to providing the highest level of care and of course commitment to the community for many years to come.”
